It aligns its curriculum design and talent training models with local needs, having nurtured nearly 20,000 high-level talents for basic education who have rooted themselves in local areas.

The program cultivates reserve talents dedicated to the inheritance and innovation of Jingchu Culture. It actively explores, researches, and promotes Jingchu Culture, offering specialized courses related to this cultural tradition.

Focused on fostering interdisciplinary talents with outstanding comprehensive abilities, the program fully integrates resources from disciplines such as History and Journalism. It offers practical courses to strengthen students' hands-on skills.

(II) History (Teacher Education Orientation)
1. Characteristics of Talent Cultivation
- The Collaborative Talent Cultivation Model Runs Through the Whole Process
University-local cooperation, university-enterprise cooperation and inter-university cooperation are integrated into the entire talent training process. During their studies at school, students can be recommended by the university to carry out internships and practical training in government departments, enterprises and public institutions, as well as primary and secondary schools.
- Distinctive Features in Teaching and Research of Jingchu Culture
It has co-established the Jingchu Culture Research Center (a key provincial research base for humanities and social sciences) with the Jingzhou Museum, which serves as a teaching and research base for students. The program has presided over 7 national social science fund projects related to Jingchu Culture and published 3 series of Jingchu Culture Research Books, totaling 24 volumes.
- Prominent Brand Effect in Social Services
A large number of graduates have become high-level local history teacher talents, providing teacher support for the development of basic education in Hubei Province.

(III) Internet and New Media
1. Characteristics of Talent Cultivation
Relying on Hubei Province’s Jingchu Excellent Journalism Talents Collaborative Training Program and responding to the national strategic demand for "media convergence", the program cultivates applied journalism talents with firm Marxist beliefs, profound humanistic literacy, solid professional media skills, as well as strong social practice capabilities and academic innovation capabilities.
2. Core Courses
Marxist View of Journalism, History of World Journalism and Communication, New Media and Society, Network Communication, Public Relations, Digital Multimedia Content Creation, Digital Media Application Technology, Interactive Design, Advertising Planning and Creativity, Short Video Creation and Practice, etc.
3. Career Prospects
After graduation, students can engage in activity innovation, media planning, video program planning, directing, production, integrated marketing, media public relations and other work in internet companies, content creative institutions, new media departments of traditional news and publishing organizations, and online communication departments of government agencies, enterprises and public institutions.

(IV) History (Excellent Teacher Program)
1. Characteristics of Talent Cultivation
Responding positively to the Jingchu Excellent Teacher Program and the rural revitalization strategy, the program leverages the university’s national and provincial-level teaching and research platform resources, such as the Chu Culture Research Center, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center (Yangtze University), and the Jingzhou Museum. Through the university-middle school collaborative talent cultivation mechanism, it cultivates targeted employment undergraduate normal students majoring in History.
Compared with regular classes, it offers additional featured courses including Chu History, Cultural Relics, and Rural Education, strengthening students’ sense of mission to serve local basic education. The credits for teachers’ ethics practice account for over 30% of the total credits required for graduation.
The Jingchu Excellent Teacher Program is a special enrollment program, admitted in the early undergraduate admission batch. It adopts separate application forms and independent score lines. During their studies at our university, normal students enrolled in this program are exempt from tuition and accommodation fees, and the university provides living allowances.

After graduation, students will be arranged to teach in primary and secondary schools in the designated counties under the prefecture-level city (prefecture) specified in their signed agreements, in accordance with the assessment and placement plan formulated by that prefecture-level city (prefecture).
